 Program Guidelines
1 Requirements:
Students must pass the minimum number of credits within 4 (four) years.
2 Minimum Credits Required:
Please refer to the updated “Graduation Requirements Checklist” in the “Download” Forms” section. 
3 Physical Education (PE), Military Training and Nursery:
Military Training and Nursery are required courses in freshman year and elective courses in sophomore year. PE is a required course from freshman to junior years. No credits are given to these courses. PE is an elective course in senior year. Credits may be earned but do not count towards graduation.
4 Taking Courses from Other Academic Years:
Students may take courses from higher academic years and the required courses of other departments, and is subject to permission from Chair of the Department and the instructors of the courses.
5 Evening School Classes:
Day school students can only take evening school classes and vice versa under one of the following six conditions:
a.They are final-year students who need to retake a certain course or take a required course, but are unable to take the class offered by the day school because it clashes with their existing schedule.
b.They are final-year students who want to take elective courses not offered by the day school.
c.They are elective double majors or students minoring in Englsih.
d.They are students whose previous semester’s grades are within the top 10%.
e.They are final-year students to whom a clash in course schedule would mean delaying graduation.
* In exceptional circumstances, the Chair of the Department may apply on the student’s behalf. The application must be accepted by the Chair of Academic Affairs and the Director of Evening School.
Note: Only one-third of the total credits being taken in that particular semester can be switched to the evening classes.
6 Transfer of Credits:
Department and college-transfer students, and those who are permitted for resumption of student status, can apply to transfer credits towards their degree from NCHU. Transfer of credits must be completed during the course selection period at the beginning of each semester. Credit transfer and course waiver can only be applied once.
7 Early Graduation:
Students whose grades are exceptional and who have successfully completed the minimum number of required and elective course credits may apply for graduation either one semester or one academic year earlier than normal. Those who fail to complete the required number of course credits within the four-year time limit may extend graduation by two years maximum.
8 Suspension of Studies:
Students must apply for suspension of study if illness or personal difficulties prevent completion of study. After resumption, unless the student qualifies for early graduation according to the rules above, the student must complete four years (eight semesters) of study and pass the required number of credits in order to graduate.
