Rice Dumpling

    The Rice Dumpling is popular all year around; however, it is almost a national requirement to have one or more during Dragon Boat Festival. Glutinous rice is stuffed with a variety of ingredients, including pork, mushroom, chestnut, salty egg yolk, and stir-fried shallots. It is then skillfully wrapped together in bamboo leaves and steamed. The bamboo leaves give the dumpling a sweet scent and provide a convenient wrapper in which to eat it from.
